Your ability to connect the themes in the movie to the broader concepts of Hinduism was truly impressive. especially the way you drew on historical and cultural references to support your arguments.

Absolutely fantastic piece.

Brilliant

India's native culture is steeped in self enquiry, a central priority that lends itself to much of what has made our civilisation endure

This is instinctively sensed by Indians but hard to capture in words, something you have done very well

The eloquent Narendras separated by a century was a connection that never occurred to me until now

Fantastic piece as always. I have a view that the song ethara jenda and the choices about the freedom fighters was by choice and to some extent reflect SSR's and India's views about the freedom struggle.

They could've easily shown Gandhi from Gujarat but they chose patel.

They could've also chosen the tricolour in the end. Though they chose the revolutionary flag.

This probably just adds to your point that a confident India is a very different India. The world is accepting it. For those who don't want to, too bad.

Quite a tour de force, covering the political landscape while staying focused. (Could use just a little more proofreading love, though.)

To me, all the roiling is a consequence of democracy—meaning self-ownership of ideas about one’s place in the world—making its way into the great unwashed Hindu masses who, thus far, have only been objects of pity and contempt for their betters in India and the West. It’s an unprecedented and earth-shattering event, and those that are not actively pulling for the Hindu masses to have their turn on the stage of human history are understandably discombobulated.
